List of Stock Companies

There are sites that give you a stock list of publicly traded companies. They're not all traded in the same way. There are many different stock exchanges. And stock exchanges in different countries. Even in the U.S. there are many different exchanges, for example the NYSE and NASDAQ.
Here are a few sites that have a list of stock companies and stock indices:
This site has software using data from the S&P 500 where you can lookup names, and get the symbol and plot these, and compare the list of stock companies in the S&P 500 with other stocks to see how closely related they are. In fact there is even an interactive 3D display of a stock tree showing the closeness in behavior of different stocks. The purpose of it is to educate people on the behavior of different stocks and how they relate to each other.
